Identification of key territories and hubs of counterfeiting is essential for effective anti-counterfeiting enforcement. We can employ two main strategies: the Carpet Bombing method and the Sniper method to enhance our brand protection strategies. 


First, we enter the Shock and Awe phase: we initiate a Carpet Bombing campaign targeting key hubs of counterfeiting where the supply chain originates. This approach creates a denial of operational space for counterfeiters through saturated enforcement actions, disrupting the supply chain in specific geographic areas and instilling unease about a brand in the minds of those involved in the counterfeit trade. 


Next, we implement the Sniper method of enforcement. By leveraging the element of surprise and unpredictability, we can achieve decisive impacts on counterfeiters. One shot, one assured kill. This targeted approach stops counterfeiters dead in their tracks due to the heightened uncertainty and increased risk of facing enforcement actions. By identifying key distributors and retailers in market territories beyond the main hubs, these precision hits instill deep fear and create a real-world deterrence against counterfeiting. 


Brand Shifting occurs when we observe counterfeiters moving to other brands, where the risk of enforcement action and being caught is significantly lower. This shift is clear evidence that our brand enforcement program is meeting its objectives and effectively working. 


To ensure ongoing success in our anti-counterfeiting efforts, we must engage in continuous online and on-ground monitoring of key hubs and downstream retail markets, followed by targeted enforcement actions to reinforce our message and protect intellectual property rights.
